Dana White and the UFC are eyeing a date with Dublin in 2015

Well that's great news

It’s a good day to be an Irish MMA fan.

Not only did we get the chance to ask a question to every Irish fighter on the UFC roster at the press conference from the Convention Centre Dublin but we found out that the octagon is coming back to the capital.

While nothing is set in stone yet, UFC president Dana White announced that the Las Vegas promotion were to host a fight card in Dublin before the year is out.

We’re sure you remember the UFC’s last visit to Dublin, in July, with a fight card that was headlined by Conor McGregor and Diego Brandao.

And the trip was such a success that Irish MMA fans have been clamouring for White to take the octagon to Croke Park but logistical issues with the stadium’s curfew put the kibosh to that plan.

But White has claimed that the UFC have plans on returning to the capital in 2015 which will likely mean an Autumn fight card at the 3Arena and, while McGregor may not headline due to his drawing power for American audiences, we’ve got a host of other willing candidates such as Aisling Daly, Paddy Holohan and Cathal Pendred, to name but a few.
