Irish MMA fans are waking up, this morning, to the news that Conor McGregor will NOT fight Jose Aldo at UFC 189.

UFC president Dan White confirmed, last night, that Aldo's camp contacted him with news the Brazilian would, due to a rib injury picked up in training, not be able to defend his belt. McGregor was swiftly on Twitter with this apt response. https://twitter.com/TheNotoriousMMA/status/616077798751338496 As we now know, McGregor will fight Chad Mendes for an interim featherweight belt at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on July 11. In typical fashion, The Notorious has already predicted the minute and round he will defeat 'mini Mendes'. 'Four minutes into the first, Chad Mendes will be unconscious,' he declared. Hours before the news broke, McGregor spoke about the possibility of taking on Mendes. 'He's a wrestler with an over-hand.
