Conor McGregor’s been called a lot of things but Clay Guida’s “potato picker” insult must be a first

Ah, we used to like Guida and all

We’re running out of UFC featherweights who aren’t trying to fight Conor McGregor.

Clay Guida (31-15) is the latest in a long line of 145lbers to have a go at the Irish featherweight during a recent interview with AskMen.com.

Guida, a former lightweight who holds a win over current 155lb kingpin Anthony Pettis, is not impressed by the meteoric rise of “The Notorious” in the UFC.

UFC Fight Night Weigh-in

He said:”Conor has shown some skill and we can’t take that away from him but we haven’t seen enough from him to prove that he is legit. I don’t care how many millions of fans he has.

“He is a flash in the pan and you can tell him that – however, I don’t know if that Irish potato picker would know what that means, but he’s a one hit wonder.”

Ridiculous insults aside, ‘The Carpenter’ looks keen on a meeting with McGregor and believes that the Irishman hasn’t fought enough world-class fighters yet.

“If he wants to see what boring is tell him to call me. I’ve been looking forward to meeting him because I want to hear how ridiculous he really sounds. I don’t get flustered by that stuff but I can show him what boring is if he wants to get in the ring with me. He needs to fight real fighters with some pedigree before he starts talking too much.”

UFC Fight Night: McGregor v Holloway

Guida is currently ranked number 11 by the UFC in their featherweight standings and a bout against number 5 ranked McGregor doesn’t look likely unless ‘The Notorious’ loses to Dennis Siver in his next outing on January 18.

“I’d love to just steamroll McGregor just so people forget about his goofy ass. He’s a leprechaun looking for the treasure at the end of the rainbow and I hope he finds me on his way there.

“I’d only need about two weeks to train to ruin that guy’s day. That’s who I would pick if I could, but I’ll take on anyone. I want to work my way up the ranks and I’ll fight whoever it takes to get up there.”

A loquacious McGregor response is imminent, we’re sure.
