Conor McGregor moves to number 4 in UFC featherweight rankings after Siver win

The ascent continues.

Granted, Conor McGregor’s ranking will matter little to the Dubliner considering he’s next in line for a title shot but it’s always nice to keep abreast of these things.

After “The Notorious” saw off Dennis Siver with minimum difficulty on Sunday night, he has jumped up one place in the UFC featherweight rankings.

One of McGregor’s most vocal doubters, Cub Swanson, will not be happy to see the Irishman overtake him in the top five.

And while the other members of the top five – Chad Mendes, Frankie Edgar, Ricardo Lamas and Swanson – have been very outspoken about their belief that “The Notorious” does not deserve a title shot and has talked himself into the May showdown with 145lb kingpin Jose Aldo, all have already fought and been beaten by the Brazilian so a clash with McGregor is the most compelling fight to make.

The other movers and shakers at 145 include Dustin Poirier dropping to 7 and Siver falling two places to 12 while Dennis Bermudez, Jeremy Stephens and Clay Guida all move up one to 6, 10 and 11 respectively.
