Fair play. But…
Conor McGregor is not the first Irish man on the cover of Sports Illustrated (Someone else tell him please).
The Dubliner has done his country proud by appearing on the latest SI edition but he was mistaken when he said that he was the first from this island.

Rory McIlroy, Eamonn Coughlan and Ronnie Delany have each appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated and they’ve all done it way before the present day.
But don’t worry, people weren’t long in reminding McGregor.

And he wasn’t on it just once either.

Ronnie Delany had multiple appearances too.

And, of course, only the multiple grand slam winning and world number one hogging golf champion too.
