Full disclosure – Dana White has been known to fib a lot and Brendan Schaub has gotten plenty wrong in the past.

With that said, Schaub does have reliable connections in the UFC and he is adamant that McGregor has a contract on the table for his next fight despite White’s claims that they are not looking to book either McGregor or Khabib Nurmagomedov until after their Nevada State Athletic Commission hearing.

The current and former UFC lightweight champions are awaiting their punishments from the NSAC for their roles in the UFC 229 brawl and for that reason, White rubbished rumours that discussions were taking place over McGregor’s next fight.

Fresh from his submission victory over Mike Perry in Denver, Donald Cerrone revealed that he would be returning to the lightweight division and immediately targeted a red panty night against ‘The Notorious’.

Taking to Instagram, ‘Cowboy’ insisted that he was waiting on McGregor to agree to the fight between two of the most popular fighters on the UFC roster and while White claims there is no truth to the rumours, sources close to former UFC heavyweight Schaub dispute that.

Schaub advised fans to take White’s comments with a grain of salt before revealing that he’s heard that the UFC is currently working on McGregor vs. Cerrone and Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson.

“You could not get closer to the situation [than my source]. They told me that the Conor McGregor-Donald Cerrone fight was offered, that’s the plan but they’re waiting for Conor to sign the contract,” Schaub said on his Below the Belt podcast.

“It’s up to Conor if he wants that to be his next fight. That’s where they’re at with it.

“And Khabib vs. Tony Ferguson is what’s next for Khabib but what do I know?”
