CONFIRMED: Donald Cerrone has the main card fight he deserves at UFC 205

Dana White doesn’t f**k around.

Unless he’s talking about Croke Park. Then he f**ks around all the time.

The UFC president seems to say “we will do Croke Park” more than Jose Aldo calls out Conor McGregor on Twitter but, GAA aside, Dana knows what he’s doing.

Robbie Lawler pulling out of the UFC 205 main event in New York could’ve been disastrous. It was there for a while but, then again, so is everything in this social media world of outrage.

And, whilst MMA fans won’t get the dream match-up of Lawler-Cerrone, whilst WWE might never get the respect it doesn’t exactly deserve in these circles, Dana White has a solution.

It comes in the form of Kelvin Gastelum.

UFC 200: Tate v Nunes

The 24-year-old has agreed to step in to the November 12 welterweight bout and face off with Cowboy Cerrone at Madison Square Garden.

Gastelum has won 13 of his 15 UFC fights to date but UFC 205 and a fight with Denver’s finest is different gravy altogether. Despite his unanimous decision against Johny Hendricks at UFC 200, the prospect of Cerrone represents a significantly more terrifying threat, with the Muay Thai expert thriving at welterweight, winning his three fights in the division so far – not to mention disposing of a certain Mr Story last month.

And, whilst ESPN’s Brett Okamoto confirmed the billing…

MMA Junkie unconfirmed it – sort of – by saying that a verbal agreement was reached and nothing was yet official.

It’s all going on.
