While the former WWE superstar was embarrassed on his first trip through the Octagon doors, there's no denying that he draws mainstream attention due to his previous career as a professional wrestler.
And Punk, real name Phil Brooks, is set to get a second opportunity to justify the promotion dollars that the UFC has pumped into him.
Punk has seemingly confirmed that he will return to action on the UFC 225 card in his native Chicago, with his opponent yet to be announced.
Responding to a troll on Twitter, the 39-year-old claimed that we can expect to see him back in the Octagon on June 9.

Fight fans have expected Punk to get a second chance for some time now as his team, the esteemed Roufusport Academy, seemingly let plans slip via Instagram last month.
There is no shortage of fighters calling him out either as everyone in the welterweight division is aware of Punk's inexperience in the realm of mixed martial arts while a victory over a high-profile name such as his would guarantee mainstream attention.
It had been suggested that he would meet fellow 0-1 fighter Mike Jackson, who also lost his UFC and MMA debut via first-round rear naked choke to Mickey Gall, but that has yet to be confirmed.
Jackson is a mixed martial arts photographer who fought Gall back in 2016 for the right to welcome Punk to the Octagon.
The fact that both men discovered their levels in defeat to Gall would suggest that they would be evenly matched and the UFC's desire to give one last shot to Punk makes plenty of sense considering the hype that they put behind him when they signed him way back in late 2014.
