The Californian is one of our favourite MMA stars for his sheer classiness in and out of the octagon.

Chad Mendes has taken some time out from his training schedule, ahead of his TUF Finalé main event fight with Frankie Edgar, to spread some Christmas cheer.

The featherweight contender, who lost to Conor McGregor at UFC 189, pitched in behind a project that finds accommodation for homeless families.

Mendes wrote: ‘Thank you Last Call for helping Abby Raines, family and I find and adopt a family with Family Promise, an amazing program that helps homeless families transition into housing and get their lives back on an even footing.

‘I remember how excited I was as a young kid when I walked downstairs and saw my first bike on Christmas morning. I rode that thing with my brothers and sisters till the wheels fell off!

‘I hope these gifts bring this family tons of happiness and lots of awesome memories. Happy holidays everyone!’ #tistheseason #happyholidays
