Carlos Condit considers retirement after dropping split decision to Robbie Lawler

What a war

Carlos Condit may have fought his last ever MMA bout.

The former WEC and interim UFC welterweight champion was involved in a battle for the ages in the main event of UFC 195.

Condit put on a phenomenal performance against Robbie Lawler, mixing up his striking well and throwing heavy volumes which rocked the champion a couple of times throughout the fight. During the post-fight press conference, the Natural Born Killer admitted that he thought he had done enough to win, however, the split decision went to Lawler..

“I did (think I won the fight), it was close though, It didn’t go my way tonight, but I fought my ass off. I’m disappointed, but I’m proud of my performance.”

“Win or lose, I’m out here living my dream. I get to fight for a living, and compete against the top guys in the world. I dig what I do, and sometimes you win, sometimes you lose unfortunately. Tonight wasn’t my night.”

31-year-old Condit has been competing professionally for 13 years, but is arguably at his peak right now. He explained that losing another title fight at UFC 195 may be enough to convince him to hang up his gloves for good.

“It’s not really an emotional thing. I’m not dejected. I have to evaluate, but yeah, there’s a possibility that might be my last one.”

“I’ve been at this for a long time. Over 40 professional MMA and Kickboxing fights. I don’t know. I came up short tonight. Tonight was kind of like a do-or-die moment for my career. I was all in. If I got that strap, I was gonna keep fighting. If I didn’t, like I didn’t… I will have to see if I can continue to do this.”

If that was his last ever fight, what a performance to bow out on.
