Brazilian featherweight’s B test comes back positive for banned diuretic

Rony Jason says he's done nothing wrong

Science can be a bit of a bitch sometimes.

TUF Brazil featherweight winner Rony Jason looks to be in a whole heap of trouble tonight after it was confirmed that his B sample from UFC Fight Night: Goiania came back positive.

The 145lber submitted Damon Jackson that night but the win is tainted by the latest results issued by the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission or CABMMA.

He is now set to be banned for nine months and that win over Jackson has been overturned to a no-contest.

He previously threatened to sue the CABMMA if his B sample came back negative, and according to MMAFighting.com he is pleading his innocence even in the face of science.

“My lawyer informed me (of the second result), but also told me there was nothing that proved it was mine because there was no signature in any of the samples.

“I will continue following this because I didn’t take anything.”

“The whole procedure done here was incorrect, they can’t prove those samples are mine because there’s nothing on it that proves it.

“This happened exactly when I won a post-fight bonus.”

Despite his pleas it looks like it will be a tough period out of action for the fighter who looked to be getting his momentum back on track following a split decision defeat to Robbie Peralta last May.

Excuse the pun but it’s definitely a positive sign from the UFC that it is starting to seriously clamp down on suspected users of banned substances.
