What is it with Conor McGregor and the Eastern Europeans?
Last month ‘The Notorious’ was urged to consider Russian citizenship by a federal assembly member, the fans love him and, only yesterday, it emerged that Fight Nights Global wanted to pay the Irishman $2 million to fight undefeated featherweight Rasul Mirzaev on the undercard of Emelianenko vs. Maldonado this summer.
McGregor received a formal offer from the promotion. @from_safonov confirmed the news with Mirzaev.

The attempts to further unsettle the freshly tumultuous relationship between McGregor and the UFC have continued into Thursday with the reports that Polish promotion KSW was set to better Fight Nights Global’s offer in an bid to put together a rematch that was on absolutely nobody’s mind.
We wouldn’t blame any fan for not knowing the name Artur Sowinski. He’s a Polish 145 lber with a modest record of 17-7, 2 NC and has had varied degrees of success on the European circuit.
He was also the tenth man to fight Conor McGregor.

McGregor handily beat Sowinski when they met at a Celtic Gladiator event in Laois back in 2011.
The Sowinski fight was McGregor’s last before he became a regular with Cage Warriors, the organisation in which the Irishman claimed both the lightweight and featherweight titles.
And KSW owner Maciej Kawulski is keen on seeing McGregor vs. Sowinski II for the KSW featherweight title, tweeting the Dubliner with an offer on Thursday.
Hey @TheNotoriousMMA we'd like to up the stakes. We offer you 3 mln $ to face KSW current FW champ. How 'bout that?

While the offer is obviously not to be taken too seriously as it is more of a publicity tool than anything and McGregor’s contract with the UFC is as watertight as contracts go, it is interesting to see how much interest ‘The Notorious’ is garnering in Eastern Europe.
