Augusto “Dodger” Montano is the latest fighter Cathal Pendred has beaten and has subsequently tested positive for PEDs.

Pendred defeated the Mexican fighter via unanimous decision at UFC 188 in Mexico City. Pendred remained more active than Dodger, who lived up to his moniker by dancing around the Octagon and refusing to engage with the Dubliner.

Montano tested positive for testosterone metabolites and has received a one-year suspension from competing.

The UFC’s statement on Montano is as follows:

Following his bout at UFC 188 in Mexico City on June 13, UFC welterweight Augusto “Dodger” Montano tested positive for exogenous origin of testosterone metabolites. The UFC has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by our athletes. As a result of the positive test, Montano has accepted a one-year suspension, effective from the date of the bout, for violating the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC.

Montano becomes the second fighter Pendred has defeated in the UFC who turned out to be on PEDS. Pendred made one of the greatest comebacks of the year against Mike King in UFC Dublin 2014, taking a lot of punishment early on before choking The Unseen Armada out.

King failed a post-fight drugs test and had to forfeit his $50,000 cut of the Fight of the Night bonus to Pendred. King agreed to serve a 9-month suspension retroactive to the event and must pass a drug test before receiving clearance to compete again.
