All three Irish fighters make weight without issue ahead of their UFC Glasgow bouts

There will be no purse forfeiture for UFC Fight Night 72 as all 24 fighters came in bang on weight for the UFC’s first trip to Scotland.

There may have been a few nervous spectators when the first Irishman took to the scale as Paul Redmond missed weight for his octagon debut in January but Redser had no such trouble making the featherweight limit as he came in at 145lbs for his clash with Scotland’s Rob Whiteford.

Paddy Holohan looked like he had been cutting right up until the last minute as he arrived on the stage still in his sweat suit which had to be peeled off by SBG teammate Aisling Daly. After jokingly threatening to toss his boxers into the crowd, The Hooligan made the flyweight limit of 126 lbs for his fight with Vaughan Lee.

Joseph Duffy will be growing weary of his moniker as “the last man to beat Conor McGregor” but that’s just how Karyn Bryant prefaced his walk to the stage. Irish Joe easily made weight for his main card bout against Ivan Jorge.

While there was no tension between the Irish contingent and their respective opponents, we were treated to a textbook Michael Bisping staredown after he and fellow headliner Thales Leites both made weight.
