VINES: All the finishes from last night’s UFC Fight Night: McGregor vs Siver

D'arce chokes, ground n' pound and nasy cuts

Darragh Murphy

We, like all you lovely realists, never expected McGregor v Siver to go the distance.

The Irish featherweight phenomenon had promised to finish off his latest obstacle in less than two minutes but required the second round to get the TKO.

After connecting with a straight left, “The Notorious” pounced to mount an just elbowed his way to the point where Herb Dean was forced to call it a day for UFC Boston.

Earlier on the main card Uriah Hall continued his tradition of having unusual fights when his bout with late stand-in Ron Stallings was given the kibosh by the cageside doctor due to this nasty cut above Stallings’ eye.

Hall opened up the former Strikeforce fighter with this pinpoint counter right.

It wasn’t the best night for the hometown kid, John Howard, who was finished in the first round by Lorenz Larkin.

Larkin, who was making his welterweight debut, caught “Doomsday” with a straight right which dropped him before forcing the ref to wave the bout off with further damage on the ground.

Johnny Case put on a clinic in the opening two rounds against Frankie Perez in the lightweight division before rocking his opponent and displaying vicious ground-and-pound to get the finish.

The broadcast prelims got off to something of a controversial start as Charles Rosa was awarded the victory over Sean Soriano with just 17 seconds left in the fight.

After transitioning slickly from a guillotine to a D’Arce choke, Rosa was pulled off of Soriano after the referee judged this to be a tap.

The first finish of the evening came in a highly entertaining light heavyweight contest between Sean O’Connell and TUF 19 competitor Matt Van Buren.

After showing off a series of impressive knees in the first and second round, Van Buren was declared out on his feet after finding himself on the receiving end of some power punches from the Utah native in the third round.
