Tiger Woods has cast his eye back over his career in an attempt to re-establish his swing as a decisive element in his golf game.

The former world number one is making a comeback from a back injury and has taken to watching old videotapes of his swing under the advice of new coach Chris Como.

Woods said: “I spent the time looking back on my golf swing way back to my amateur days, and all the way up until I was working with Sean [Foley] and everything in between.

“I was very surprised and excited to see how Chris felt my swing should look like. It was very similar to the vision I had, and that’s where we’re at right now.

“It was quite interesting to see where my swing was then and how much force I could generate with a very skinny frame,” he added. “That’s kind of what we are getting back into. It feels great. It feels fantastic.”

The 38-year-old, who hasn’t played competitively since August’s PGA Championship, hinted at the particulars of his latest swing-adjustment.

“It is new, but it is old. I say that because I haven’t done it in a very long time.

“Having a couple of months off allowed me to do that but what was very interesting was trying to find a VHS recorder!

“But in turning now to Chris, and on the recommendation of Sean, it is going to be beneficial because his view of my golf swing is where it should be is aligned to where I also believe it should be. Straight away that was good synergy.”
