Rory McIlroy just couldn't get it going at the PGA Championship this evening, finishing in a tie for seventh place after a round of one under.
England's Aaron Rai pulled away from the rest of the field to finish on nine under, five ahead of McIlroy, for his first major championship trophy.
On the 16th hole, a spectator yelled out after McIlroy hit a wayward shot from the rough into a bunker.
The Northern Irishman then turned around and pointed at the fan with his club, likely to have him removed.
After his third round, McIlroy was asked about the support he gets from US crowds, with reference to the abuse he got from the New York crowds at the 2025 Ryder Cup.
He responded: "Again, 103 out of 104 weeks, I get pretty good support everywhere I go. It's just that one week every -- or one week every four years, I guess it is, that most of the crowd are on the other side, and that's fine.
"If I were them, I'd be on the U.S. side, too.
"But no, I do, I feel like I get a lot of support anywhere I go, and I'm very fortunate and very grateful for that."
