After more than a year out of the game, Tiger is ready to stalk the fairways again.
About time too. The game has been crying out for the formerly all-powerful world No1 since he last competed in August 2015.
Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Jason Day, Dustin Johnson – they are all great golfers but they do not get the pulse racing like a scowling, spitting, surly Tiger Woods.
He has been missed, but he Wednesday announced on his website that he intends to compete at the Safeway Open (October 13th-16th), the Turkish Airlines Open (November 3rd-6th) and the Hero World Challenge (December 1st-4th).
Understandably he also plans on taking part in the Tiger Woods Invitational next month. He knows the guy organising it.
The 40-year-old has been battling back from back surgeries, which he admits he is still recovering from.
“My rehabilitation is to the point where I’m comfortable making plans, but I still have work to do,” Woods said. “Whether I can play depends on my continued progress and recovery. My hope is to have my game ready to go.”
One of the most iconic figures in world sport, his return to action was greeted with joy by golf fans.
Must focus. (TT’s gotta get in shape to go track the man.) @TheRock @TigerWoods pic.twitter.com/rSeC0unauh

Tiger Woods is back on Tour. Not gonna say I just fist pumped violently in the library. Not gonna say I didn't, either. #TheReturnOfBigCat

I hope Tiger Woods is able to recapture some of his magic. Golf is just more interesting when he is playing it well.
