Waterford football manager Tom McGlinchey is ‘angry and disappointed’ that the GAA have ruled the Déise’s final league game null and void.
Three Division 4 fixtures – Waterford v Leitrim, Wicklow v Limerick and Laois v Antrim – will not be played after the GAA declared that an agreement could not be reached to play the matches due to scheduled club fixtures.
However, McGlinchey said that Waterford and Leitrim came to an agreement to play a match in Abbotstown, Co. Dublin, on 25 April, that would supposedly not interfere with the club fixtures, however, at this stage, it looks like the game will be declared ‘null and void’ until further notice.
“We’re angry with the GAA because there’s a National League fixture that isn’t going to be played,” McGlinchey told RTÉ Sport.

“Ourselves and Leitrim came to an agreement to play a match in Abbotstown on 25 April that would not interfere with the club fixtures, but our request has fallen on deaf ears and we’re very disappointed with that.
“We said we would bring Leitrim half way’s down, concede home advantage, play the match, and that would ensure that the National League would not have null and void fixtures. Billy Lee in Limerick and John Evans in Wicklow have agreed the same.
“The GAA should now look at a solution here and try and get these games played.”
Last year, the GAA decided to keep the month of April free exclusively for club games, however, successive cancellations due to heavy snowfall means that it looks like the final Division Four games will not be played.
