The old expression goes that these sort of riches don’t grow on trees but they’re literally lying around the O’Neill county as if they’ve fallen from overcrowded branches.
McNulty is just another in a long line of mouthwatering footballers who are as effortless as they are deadly. And, from a dead ball, he’s making quite a name for himself.
Back in 2015, the Clonoe man clinched Tyrone’s first under-21 Ulster title in nine years with a last-gasp free kick that ousted Donegal and, at the weekend, his exploits were simply off the charts.

Captured brilliantly by Tyrone’s dart supremo Mickey Mansell, McNulty nails an effort from way beyond the 45′, right up near the half-way point of the field.
On The GAA Hour podcast, Steven McDonnell has always advocated for free-takers to strike the ball from the ground and, on his website, he went into great detail about this very matter.
“You are striking a ball from a stationary position so you are only depending on a clean run-up and strike on the area of the ball that you focus on with a good follow-through,” the Armagh legend writes.
“From your hands, as you are preparing to strike the ball you are moving your whole body, legs, waist, shoulders, arms and head in the hope that you make a clean connection. More can go wrong this way.”
