A common refrain: The whole thing went down in Coppers.

We hosted our first GAA Hour Live event of the year in the famous Harcourt Street establishment on Friday night, ahead of the AIB All-Ireland club finals in Croke Park.

The star-studded panel included Portumna legends Damien Hayes and Ollie Canning, who were waiting in the wings when ‘Ger Loughnane’ took to the stage.

Now, Loughnane and the Canning brothers famously have previous – with Loughnane criticising Galway in the wake of last year’s Leinster final defeat to Kilkenny – calling Joe Canning and his team-mates gutless.

Ollie hit back on behalf of the Tribesmen, reminding everyone of Loughnane’s ill-starred reign as Galway manager a decade ago: “When Ger was in Galway, a 10-point loss to Kilkenny was probably the highlight of it.”

So, unsurprisingly, ‘Loughnane’ had a few choice words for the elder Canning sibling last night. Skip to 7’45” of the video below to watch the fun.

Listen to the whole show below, including the football panel of Joe Kernan, Conal Keaney and David Brady – plus a footballers v hurlers quiz.
