Colm Cooper isn’t going anywhere.
Another championship summer will soon pass into history but The Gooch is already looking to the next one.
There have been genuine fears in The Kingdom ever since their semi-final exit at the hands of Dublin that Cooper would be walking away from the game he helped shape for the past 15 years.
Along the way, there has been seven Munster titles, five All-Irelands, four national leagues, eight All Stars, 17 goals, 196 points and a heap of good memories.
Still, the 33-year-old is keen on one more whirl.
During The GAA Hour Live, on Friday, Cooper admitted he had dabbled with the idea of retirement. However, he continued:
“I’ve had 15 years playing with Kerry. I’ve had great times, ups, downs. Done my cruciate, popped my shoulder, a few months ago.
“A player I respect an awful lot said, a couple of months ago, ‘Do it as long as you can because it’s going to be gone’.
“Talking to a few of the senior guys up here [on stage], they are on similar lines. So, if my body is good, if my body is healthy, I’d like to go again.”
