VIDEO: Wicklow ladies goalkeeper produces a save that we can’t explain

Where did she… when did she… how did she?

Kim Connors, remember that name.

Wicklow ladies marched on in the All-Ireland Intermediate Championship with a 4-13 to 3-9 victory over Roscommon on Saturday but they had their goalkeeper to thank for a moment of pure inspiration.

After a slick move, the Roscommon women cut the opposition open and midfielder Jenny Higgins was presented with an open goal to palm into.

Higgins did nothing wrong. She got it down, she got it accurate but Kim Connors came charging across her line, reaching back with an outstretched hand and somehow managed to turn the ball away when everything we know about physics would’ve suggested that she couldn’t.

Wicklow go on to play Down with a place in the quarter-final at stake but, whatever happens for the rest of the season, no-one will forget Kim Connors’ save for a long, long time.

It was captured brilliantly by Jerome Quinn.
