VIDEO: We’re still in awe of Colm Callanan’s body-defying saves against Tipperary

The save from Lar is unbelievable

When he’s not pumping iron he’s pulling off ridiculous saves

A tale of two Callanans.

Seamus got the official man-of-the-match gong, but it so easily could have been Colm, as the Galway netminder was in incredible form throughout the seventy minutes despite conceding three goals in Sunday’s All-Ireland semi-final win over Tipperary.

The Kinvara clubman was beaten after less than forty seconds, but he recovered from that early blow to be the platform for so many Galway attacks, as well as denying Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher and his team-mates in two frantic second half-skirmishes around the square.

He then managed to pull off the best reaction save we’ve seen this championship after he somehow got the faintest of touches on a snap-shot from Lar Corbett to tip it away from the net.

Of course it would be unfair to exclude the Tipperary full-forward and his tour de force and his three goals also make the highlight reel from the past weekend.

The first especially is impressive as he finishes despite splinters of wood clouding his vision.
