Video: The GAA’s top five Gaelic football goals of 2014 includes some absolute belters

Team efforts and brilliant solo goals all make the cut

Imagine soloing with your left at top speed and then kicking with your other foot while still going like the clappers. Well that’s a fair summation of the best goal of the 2014 football championship.

The best strikes to raise green flags in this year’s GAA football championship have been revealed with Kerry, Donegal, Galway and Kildare all featuring.

Footballer Of The Year James O’Donoghue takes the gong for his amazing strike against Galway in the All-Ireland Quarter Final while Tom Flynn’s goal from the same game also makes the cut.

Goals by Donegal feature twice; efforts from Darach O’Connor and Odhrán MacNiallais, and the list is completed by Emmet Bolton’s wonderstrike in Croke Park.

We think O’Donoghue was trying to emulate his fellow county man Maurice Fitzgerald who scored a similar effort in 2000 against Armagh:
