Video: The GAA have produced a tribute to Henry Shefflin and it is stirring stuff

Featuring team-mates, opponents and some great archive clips

Fine work here from the GAA on YouTube

When the greatest hurler of all time hangs up his inter-county hurley, you expect a big reaction and this afternoon hasn’t disappointed.

Once the news officially broke that Henry Shefflin was ending his inter-county career with Kilkenny Twitter was soon full of gushing, spot-on tributes to the Ballyhale legend.

However, this video effort from the GAA themsleves is one of the best we’ve seen. Featuring his manager for his entire career, Brian Cody, plus former team-mate Martin Comerford, it is a classy look back at how he got to the top, and how he stayed there for so long.

They also speak to Tipp’s John Leahy, who describes Shefflin as ‘the complete hurler’ and that is about the perfect way to sum up his on-field abilities.
Lots of career highlights are featured here too, plus a run down of all his stats.

Fair play to the GAA.
