VIDEO: Clonmel eye Munster Club Championship history against daunting Nemo side

Destiny awaits

Patrick McCarry

“It’s the first game this season that we haven’t been favourites for, which is strange enough for us.”

So says Michael Quinlivan of Clonmel Commercials ahead of his side’s Munster Senior Football Club Championship.

The Tipperary side have battled their way to the provincial showpiece but they have a mighty foe standing in their way.

“We played Clonmel a number of times in challenge matches,” says Nemo’s James Masters, “and they’re a fine, strong, young team.”

No team from Tipperary has ever won the Munster football crown but Quinlivan, an intercounty star, says his Commercials team will endeavour to play the game on their own terms.

If they can do so, they may prevent the Cork powerhouses from winning their 16th Munster title.
