Back in 2023 it first came to the attention of the Roscommon County Council that they may have been using the wrong breed of sheep on their crest, when it was brought up at a council meeting by local breeders.
It turned out that the County Council were indeed using the correct breed, but the inter-county GAA sides had the wrong one.
Their crests featured a generic looking sheep with a black face, rather than the white face and wooly neck/shoulders of the Roscommon Sheep, which is one of only two native breeds in Ireland, along with the Cladóir.
The GAA board inquired to the County Council about a change of crest, and last November's jersey launch featured the new-look crest with the correct sheep.
Some fans are only realising now that the badge had been changed.
Forgive my total ignorance, but what is the reason for the change? I love that they changed nothing else apart from the sheep

The football team have worn the jersey in their first two NFL Division 2 games this season, with wins over Down and Louth.
It seems their new wooly friend is already bringing them good luck.
