Roscommon full-back Neil Collins names a couple of surprises in his Ultimate 7s team

SportsJOE

Neil Collins and Roscommon face Sligo in a Connacht SFC semi-final in less than a fortnight.

An uncertain finish to the Allianz League was followed by an alarming one-point win in New York and a less than convincing derby triumph over Leitrim, which means they’ll face the Yeats County with perhaps less confidence than some would have expected.

One thing Collins is confident about, however, is his Ultimate 7s team. SportsJOE met up with the full-back last week and asked him to name a team of one goalkeeper, two backs, two midfielders and two forwards to take on the best of the best.

He didn’t disappoint, starting with the man who must be considered the thinking man’s goalkeeper (no, not Paul Courtney).

One of his defenders may not be a household name, but Collins has utter faith in his Rossies team-mate.

In the middle he stumps for a pair of absolute powerhouses, from the powerhouses of Dublin and Kerry.

Up front it is a case of better the devils you know, with Collins selecting his AIB ambassador buddies. In fairness they were in the room with him.
