Despite the scaremongering of defensive football and whatever else, there was plenty of big scoring done during the 2016 campaign and loads of big individual displays culminating with the top scorer finishing the championship with 1-58.
The top 10 scorers came from nine different counties with the spread across the provinces as follows:

- 3 from Munster
- 2 from Leinster
- 2 from Connacht
