PIC: Kilkenny club take man marking to new level to try quieten Richie Hogan

Double-marked

Kevin McGillicuddy

It worked.

If you’re taking on a club side who possess one of the best hurlers in Ireland right now, then it’s hardly a surprise you’d pay him more attention than most.

So it’s far from a shock that this past weekend Rower Inistioge decided to double mark All-Ireland winner and current hurler of the year Richie Hogan in their Kilkenny senior league clash on Sunday

The Danesfort man is usually his club’s top scorer, but it looks like the former All-Ireland club champions came up with a plan that we could see some inter-county managers following this summer when facing the schoolteacher

The solution devised by Rower obviously worked as they ran out winners by 1-20 to 0-9.
