The Clonakenny midfielder was forced out of the AIB Munster club intermediate semi-final against Cork's Newcestown after sustaining a gruesome, and bizarre, injury to his left hand.
Ryan ended up with a helmet impaling his hand after an awkward coming-together with teammate John Joe Ryan and was replaced early on in Sunday's game.
Ryan was scheduled to undergo surgery on Monday morning after spending the night with his hand strapped to the headgear and showed his sense of humour with the below image of the injury which has since gone viral.
