PIC: Antrim dual star smiling from hospital bed as long road to recovery begins

Kevin McGillicuddy

We told you Odhran McKenna was a fighter.

The Antrim underage dual star suffered serious injuries in a road crash at the end of last month.

The teenager was put under immediate sedation in a hospital in Belfast to give him the best chance at a recovery.

Last week, his family admitted he had suffered some minor setbacks, but over the weekend, it was confirmed that he had woken from his coma, and was on the road to recovery.

And now a brilliant picture has emerged on his club’s Facebook page, that shows Odhran sitting up in his hospital bed, smiling with a teacher of his.

The 17-year-old appears to be in fine spirits in the picture with Donna Tohill, head of St Mary’s Grammar School, where he is a pupil.
