Having only been founded in 2003, Ranelagh Gaels currently has over 1,000 members.

Possibly the most important aspect of the GAA is the impact it has on the local area. From providing kids the opportunity to pursue their dreams to simply giving the community something to rally around, it’s not something that should be taken for granted.

While many of us have grown up in towns with clubs as old as the GAA itself, like Faughs GAA Club, not everyone is so lucky. There’s only one way to solve the issue of not having a GAA club.

Someone has to be willing to get the ball rolling (pun intended).

That’s exactly what happened in 2003, when a group of mates met up in their local pub. Rather than simply complaining about the fact that Ranelagh didn’t have a club, they decided to take action and put out the call for club members.

As proud sponsor of Dublin GAA, AIG Ireland brings you the stories of the grassroots communities that make it such a great organisation. The video below is the latest in their Dub Club Chronicles, which tell the stories of the county’s many great GAA clubs.
