One of the country’s top GAA forwards is off to America for the summer

He won't be alone in the 'States anyway

Four days after Armagh’s exit from the All-Ireland and Jamie Clarke is about to pack his bags for the next few months.

The forward is set to leave for America later this week and will be absent for his team’s forthcoming games in the Armagh senior championship.

The Oisin McConville led side are back in action on August 22, but it’s believed Clarke has put no time limit on his sojourn across the Atlantic .

He announced last year that he was taking a break from football before  reversing his decision.

Clarke has previously travelled to Australia and America and will have good company away from the inter-county scene as a number of fellow Ulster men will also be in America for the latter part of the summer.

Ciaron O’Hanlon  is heading to Chicago while Stefan Campbell is believed to be heading to New York.

Cavan’s Michael Argue and Dara McVeety are also understood to be playing football for the summer in Boston while a  number of Offaly players are also leaving the country after their championship exit to Kildare recently.
