This will be some craic.
The Limerick senior hurlers are fundraising for their 2017 season. To do that, they will be scrapping each other in St. Francis’ boxing club on Saturday evening.
Blow for blow, punch for punch, the boys will be going hard at it.
Let’s Keep Fighting Together to Reach our Goal:
CLUB Limerick & Limerick senior hurlers have teamed up with St. Francis boxing club to host a fundraising night of boxing on this Saturday evening at the South Court Hotel from 6.30pm. The Treaty men are in the middle of an intense gym regime to get themselves ready for the battles. We imagine every single one of them is flat out, because a loss to a teammate in a boxing match would do near irretrievable damage to a player’s reputation in the squad.
You could never slag a lad again for God’s sake.
Nine different bouts will take place on the night.
The Limerick Leader reported the pairings.
- Colin Ryan Vs. Oisín O’Reilly.
- Andrew La Touche Cosgrave Vs. Darragh O’Donovan.
- Sean Finn Vs. Pat Ryan.
- Barry Hennessy Vs. Paul Browne.
- Tom Morrissey Vs. Declan Hannon.
- Barry Nash Vs. Seamus Flanagan.
- Aaron Gillane Vs. David Reidy.
- Diarmaid Byrnes Vs. Kyle Hayes.
- Richie English Vs. Cian Lynch.
The weigh-ins took place in the South Court Hotel on Sunday, with all players now rearing for action.
In the back row, Kyle Hayes looks dangerous in his Tipperary jersey. Beside him, Aaron Gillane has a look of ‘I won’t be taking any bullshit’ scrawled across his face.

Here’s all the pairings facing off at the weigh-in, and it must be said, the clash of the night between twin towers Diarmuid Byrnes and Kyle Hayes should be a clinker.
Hayes is confident tipping the scales. Byrnes is bursting out of his Patrickswell jersey.

A great idea, the lads must be buzzing.
