Kilkenny under-21’s typical GAA Instagram is guaranteed to make you laugh

Nearly killed the young fella in the goals!

Shane Walsh started in the corner forward position for the Kilkenny under-21’s against Westmeath on Wednesday night.

The Tullaroan man, who is the younger brother of two of the best Kilkenny defenders in recent years in Tommy and Padraig Walsh, was getting his practice in for the game in the club grounds prior to the Leinster semi-final.

Walsh took to Instagram to post a video of his target practice before their clash with Westmeath.

The 20-year-old was obviously trying to build his confidence for the big game, as he was taking shots on a young lad in the goals who, it must be said, looks like he’s only just out of his nappies.

The Tullaroan forward who takes the frees for his club showed absolutely no mercy to his nephew Finn, and urged on by Pádraig, he rifles the ball into the net to leave the poor young lad bewildered on the goal line.

Finn’s positioning in the goals leaves a lot to be desired, and as Shane said in his caption, he’s worried about the future of Tullaroan hurling with Finn not even attempting to put his body in front of the shot.

“And we are depending on this lad to bring us back to senior in a few years….so long senior, hello junior,” claimed Walsh.

Finn will have to get his act together if he wants to make the Tullaroan team in the years to come.

The Kilkenny under-21’s, despite a first-half scare, were as clinical in front of goals as Walsh was here as they ran out 1-21 to 1-11 victors over Westmeath who defeated them in the same competition last year.

Westmeath fought hard in the first half, with Niall Mitchell and Killian Doyle, in particular, posing endless problems for the Cats’ rearguard.

Kilkenny eventually confirmed their superiority with a typically merciless second half performance with John Donnelly, Alan Murphy and Sean Morrissey showing well.
