Just give her the ball! Crazy run from own half to net lights up Ladies GAA final

Donegal girl performs the extraordinary with outrageous solo run and goal

Every team needs that player.

The one the manager pretends the tactics don’t revolve around when really everyone is just hoping they get the ball and run.  Just run.

Four Masters girl, Kate McGowan, is that superstar in Donegal and she’s perhaps one of a select few who, when she has the ball in her own half – that’s right, her own half – people are screaming, “Go for goal!”

The wing forward ran the length of the field at the weekend in the Ladies Ulster Club Intermediate decider but, despite her unbelievable exploits when she hit the net and raised the green flag, Four Masters still fell at the wrong side of a one-point defeat.

Despite being initially awarded the win by the referee, Monaghan Harps appealed the result and, eventually, were granted the title just yesterday.

It doesn’t take away from this spectacular goal though, captured by Jerome Quinn.  Check this out.
