No matter where your allegiances lie you hate seeing a player get injured.
Jack McCaffrey is a really great player, he’s one of the finest wing backs of this generation and was so impressive this year.
After a leave of absence to live in Africa as part of his studies, McCaffrey seamlessly reintegrated back into the Dublin set up and picked up right where he left off.
The Clontarf man won Young Footballer of the Year in 2013 along with the top gong of Footballer of the Year in 2015 before taking his year out.
So it really was sad to see him go off injured in the final after just nine minutes, McCaffrey is one of those players that the neutrals love to see playing because he is just so electric. A speed demon and ridiculously skilful.
The Irish Examiner is reporting that 23-year-old could well be in a race to be fit for next year’s championship campaign, his injury is as feared.
The newspaper is reporting that the Dublin County Board have confirmed that McCaffrey suffered a cruciate ligament injury in Sunday’s All-Ireland final and that could see him out of action for up to nine months.
Aside from his footballing prowess, McCaffrey has provided plenty of memories this year whether it be his Baywatch routine.
