The GAA’s sharpest shooters revealed.

Gaelic football’s race for the Golden Boot heats up as the top scorers in this year’s championship, overall and from play, has been revealed.

Although this doesn’t get the same recognition or attention as it does in soccer, it’s no less impressive, and if you’re a forward and say that this isn’t in the back of your mind – your lying.

All the best finishers in the game are slightly obsessed with their stats, it’s a sure-fire way of detailing your progress and seeing how much you have contributed this year.

After all, your main job for the team is sticking the ball over the bar, so if you have done that more than most of the other forwards in the country, who could complain?

Amazingly, last year’s Player of The Year David Clifford hasn’t topped either of the scoring lists, despite racking up some incredible numbers this season.

Derry’s Shane McGuigan holds the number one spot overall, while Dublin’s Con O’Callaghan has currently racked up the most from play.

Of course, the Kerryman is hot on both of their heels, sitting in second place on both rankings, and is still the favourite to end the year with the most scores to his name.

Here is the definitive list of this year’s top scorers, thanks to Gaelic Statsman, the diligent Twitter account that brings you all of the best stats and information on the GAA season.
