Gaelic football and hurling championship: Action, news and talking points

Lee Costello

Tasty stuff this weekend.

We have one hell of a weekend of Gaelic football and hurling in store for us, and although the small ball is do or die, the big ball still has some tasty fixtures.

Saturday kicks things off with a very interesting tie between Louth and Cork, a game that both teams will see as an opportunity to secure third place in the group.

Armagh then want to bounce back from their crushing defeat against Derry in the Ulster final and get back to winning ways when they play Westmeath.

The really intriguing match up is on Saturday night when Monaghan will try and redeem themselves in a rematch against the Oakleaf county – how they set up for this one will be interesting to see.

On Sunday Dublin come against their first real test of the season as Roscommon will be the first Division One team that they have faced since Kerry in the All-Ireland semi-final last year.

Onto the hurling and it’s mouthwatering stuff as Tipperary battle it out against a crestfallen Waterford, while Limerick, who look vulnerable for the first time in years, will try and battle it out against a Cork side who will really back themselves.

Keep up to date with all of the action, team news, and talking points right here:
