Chris Kamara and Jeff Stelling show soft side as they get completely caught up in GAA championship fever

"Football could learn something from this, our football that is."

Ah, the aul GAA.

Maybe it is time to accept that it isn’t going to take the world by storm.

Us Irish love GAA but it hasn’t quite picked up abroad.

Well, two lads that have fallen in love with our very own GAA over the past few weeks are Chris Kamara and Jeff SteLling even if it did mean getting absolutely flattened and failing miserably with hitting a 45.

There wasn’t the same level of tomfoolery from the pair this time around as they went to see Carlow and Leitrim play in a qualifier during the summer as they experienced a serious championship match.

The pair stood alongside Breege McGovern, mother of Leitrim players Niall and Dean McGovern throughout the match and got a feel of how things in the GAA go down including fans standing together in the same stand side by side and kids playing on the pitch at half time.

At the end of the game, where Carlow ran out seven point winners in a scoreline of 2-14 to 0-13, the two McGovern brothers came out to meet the Soccer Saturday stars alongside their mother and concluded that “football could learn something from this, our football that is.”

The AIB ran series is set to conclude at the All-Ireland final when both ‘Kammy’ and Jeff are set to commentate on the match between Dublin and Mayo.
