Galway Senior Championship.
Corofin made things right second time around in their clash with Tuam on Sunday as they won their replayed quarter-final clash by 2-9 to 0-11.
The winners led 2-3 to 0-6 at the break with their goals from Martin Farragher and the opening green flag from the boot of Michael Lundy.
Elsewhere Salthill/Knocknacarra beat Killannin 0-12 to 1-6 to also reach the last four.
Cork senior football championship
There will be new champions on Leeside this winter after Ballincollig lost out to the 2012 and 2013 champions Castlehaven over the weekend.
The club of former greats such as Larry Tompkins and Niall Cahalane emerged with a 1-14 to 1-11 win having led by four at the break.
Best for the winners was inter-county star Brian Hurley who grabbed 1-6 over the course of the hour.
In the other quarter-final Carberry Rangers enjoyed an easy win over Duhallow by 1-16 to 1-7.
They will now face Nemo Rangers in the last four next month as the kingpins of Cork football gave St Nicholas a serious trimming in a 5-11 to 0-3 win.
O’Donovan Rossa provide the opposition for Castlehaven on October 4th in Pairc Uí Rinn.
Carlow Senior Football Championship
Just two games this weekend and one of the ties ended deadlocked as Old Leighlin shared a 0-7 each draw in Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday night.
That replay has been fixed for next weekend with Rathvilly the current champions awaiting the winners.
There was a definite result in the clash between Eire Og and Clonegal/Kildavin as the Carlow town side recorded a 1-10 to 1-8 win after the hour to make the last four where they will meet Palatine.
Clare Senior Football Championship
It’s been a bad week for Cratloe as they followed their exit from the Clare senior hurling championship with a relinquishing of their Clare football title on Sunday to Clondegad.
The 2014 champions slumped to a 1-12 to 0-11 loss in Cusack Park. Elsewhere Cooraclare beat O’Curry’s by 1-11 to 1-10 in Doonbeg while St Breckan’s made history by beating Kilrush Shamrocks by 2-9 to 1-7.
The north Clare side will face off against Miltown St Josephs in the last four after they beat Ennistymon by 1-13 to 0-13, the vital goal by Eoin Cleary in the first half.
Kildare Senior Football Championship
The first of the quarter-finals saw wins for Johnstownbridge and Sarsfields over the weekend.
Last year’s intermediate champions beat Confey by 1-10 to 0-9 thanks to the efforts of Paul Cribben and Daniel Flynn, a former AFL hopeful.
The other game saw Sarsfields overcome the challenge of St Laurence’s by 2-16 to 0-5.
The remaining q-finals take place next week as Celbridge face Carbury and Athy meet Naas.
Tyrone Senior Championship
Another champion to fall over the weekend was Omagh as they exited the championship to Dromore by 1-10 to 0-7.
Coalisland beat Donaghmore by 0-17 to 0-9 while Trillick were too strong for Greencastle by 0-14 to 1-7.
Donegal Senior Championship
St Eunan’s are still alive in the local championship after a 3-7 to 0-9 win over Glenswilly, while Four Masters had no answer to a powerful Kilcar side who won by 3-13 to 0-8.
Glenties outfit Naomh Conaill recorded a 0-11 to 1-5 win over Termon and St Michael’s beat Malin by 3-15 to 1-5.
The last four now sees Eunan’s meeting St Michael’s while Kilcar face Naomh Conaill.
Kilkenny Senior Championship
A week after they claimed yet another All-Ireland title it was back to club action for the Kilkenny hurlers with their club over the weekend.
All-Ireland champions Ballyhale beat Mullinavat by 4-12 to 2-16, while 2014 All-Ireland winners Rower Inistioge beat St Martin’s 2-16 to 2-8 win and reach the quarter-finals as well as reach a league final.
Richie Hogan was in action for Danesfort as they beat Fenians by 2-14 to 2-12, with the current Hurler of the Year scoring 1-9 during the hour, all but three of it from play.
City side Dicksboro beat Erin’s Own by 2-10 to 1-7 and in the city derby O’Loughlin Gaels beat James Stephens by 3-11 to 0-13.
Former champions Clara also enjoyed a good win with a 3-15 to 3-10 victory over Carrickshock and they will meet Rower-Inistioge in the league final.
Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
Many people’s favourites for this year’s title Kilruane McDonagh enjoyed a 1-21 to 1-9 win over J K Brackens having trailed at half time by 1-7 to 0-9 at the break.
The holders Thurles Sarsfields beat the Eoin Kelly led Mullinahone by 3-25 to 2-18, while Killenaule were at the end of a shock 2-26 to 1-20 loss to Portroe after extra time in the Ragg.
Eire Og Annacarty beat Lorrha by 2-28 to 2-14 having led at the break by 2-11 to 0-7 as Nenagh Eire Og beat Roscrea by 1-21 to 0-10
The remaining sides in the last eight are Drom-Inch and Clonoulty Rossmore with the draw due to take place next week.
Waterford Senior Hurling Championship
One of the country’s most famous hurling clubs face a drop to intermediate ranks after the weekend’s action in the South East.
De La Salle lost to Fourmilewater by 1-18 to 1-7 to exit the race for championship honours and face into a relegation play off.
That play-off will be against Lismore after they lost to Mount Sion by 0-21 to 3-10.
That result sets up a repeat meeting between Mount Sion and Ballygunner in the next round
Elsewhere Ballyduff Upper upper beat Abbeyside by 2-13 to 0-17 while Ballygunner had too much firepower for Tallow emerging 0-20 to 0-16 winners.
Passage beat Cappoquin by 4-15 to 1-11 as Dungarvan beat Roanmore by 1-21 to 0-12 to set up a q-final with Tallow.
Offaly Senior Championship
Club hurling returned to St Brendan’s Park in Birr and the home side gave the home support something to cheer about with a Seir Kieran’s with a 1-18 to 2-13 win.
The game ended in high-drama as Birr goalkeeper Brian Mullins saved a penalty at the death from Joe Bergin.
Kilcormac Killoughey beat Belmont by 2-17 to 1-16 while Coolderry had no trouble in their clash with Tullamore winning 1-18 to 1-8 wile St Rynaghs beat Shinrone by 1-20 to 0-16.
