Ballyhale Shamrocks have made history once again. The Kilkenny giants lifted a record-breaking 21st county title with a convincing win over O’Loughlin Gaels at UPMC Nowlan Park.
It’s another incredible milestone for a club founded in 1972, built on a culture of winning and consistency. Their latest triumph pushes them one clear of Tullaroan on the Kilkenny roll of honour, a remarkable achievement.
Second-Half Surge Secures the Title
After an even first half that ended 0-8 each, Ballyhale showed their class after the break. They outscored O’Loughlin’s by 1-10 to 0-4 in a dominant second-half display.
Eoin Cody’s goal in the 34th minute proved the turning point. A defensive mix-up left the forward with a simple finish to the net. From there, Ballyhale never looked back.
TJ Reid was unplayable once again, finishing with 11 points to his name. He was well supported by Richie Reid, Darragh Corcoran, and Eoin Reid, who all delivered big performances when it mattered most.
Craft, Class and Control
Playing into a strong wind early on, Ballyhale missed several chances and struck seven wides. Yet their control of the game was clear. O’Loughlin Gaels battled hard through Mark Bergin and Mikey Butler, but couldn’t live with the pace and accuracy once Ballyhale found their rhythm.
As the points flowed, the result became inevitable. By the final whistle, Henry Shefflin’s side had turned a tight contest into a comfortable win, adding another golden chapter in a glittering era for the Shamrocks.
History Made in Kilkenny
The victory marks Ballyhale’s 21st county championship and extends their record haul to nine All-Ireland club titles.
Once again, the Shamrocks have shown why they remain the standard-bearers of Kilkenny hurling.
