A familiar face will be eligible to return for the Mayo vs Dublin replay

Return of the Mick

Ben Kiely

Mayo Mick could be back for the all-Ireland semi-final replay against the Dublin.

12 months ago, Mick Barrett grabbed the headlines for storming the Gaelic Grounds following his Mayo’s All-Ireland semi-final replay defeat to Kerry.

It took five stewards to keep the Castlebar native from confronting referee Cormac Reilly after his county lost to the Kingdom by 3-13 to 3-16 after extra time.

Mick received a one-year ban for invading the pitch which expired on Sunday. This means Mick he is now eligible to attend next Saturday’s replay against Dublin.

At the time of the incident, Mick vowed that he would never happen again.

“It will never happen again, but it happened in the spur of the minute.”

“Maybe it was wrong, it was spur of the minute, but I did nothing wrong.”
