Unfortunately, Zinedine Zidane never graced the Premier League.
While he was linked with moves to England early in his career, the legendary French midfielder spent the best years of his club career with Juventus and then Real Madrid.
Now in charge of Real, Zidane has revealed which players make up his all-time Premier League XI, and although someone had to miss out, we can’t help but feel Roy Keane warranted inclusion.
Opting for a 4-4-2 without any obvious wingers, the team is dominated by former Manchester United and Arsenal players.
Peter Schmeichel’s goal is guarded by a back four made up of Ashley Cole, Jaap Stam, Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville.
In midfield, Zidane’s former France teammates Patrick Vieira and Claude Makelele are joined by Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard (although he doesn’t specify who plays where).
The two striking berths are taken up by Thierry Henry and Cristiano Ronaldo, who Zidane recently lost his rag with for missing a penalty at Real Madrid.
Not a bad line-up, eh?
Although Keane can feel hard done by for missing out.
