XI of players that shone after loan deals could easily win the Premier League

Some team

Getting called into the manager’s office and being told you are going out on loan cannot be a great feeling.

Being a talented footballer often stands for little when you sign up with a professional team and are introduced to a shedload of other talented footballers.

The academy world can be a brutal one and the ante is only upped when one breaks into the senior squad.

Some players embrace the challenge of dropping down a division, or two (or three), and getting game time under their belt. For the lucky few, they remain in their league and – if their manager does not insert a clause – get to show their employers what they are missing.

Others falter.

Settling into a new spot can be hard. It is harder still when they players who are now training with feel you are there to take their spot.

Manchester United’s Adnan Januzaj, who cut short his loan deal at Borussia Dortmund, is one example of a player that struggled to adapt with a new club.

Others put in the time, learned some lessons and came back an even better player. This XI of players that flourished after their loan spells certainly proves that:

Granted, there are a few old stagers in our team but we’d back that midfield against most Premier League ensembles. The front two are in goalscoring form, the goalkeeper, who keeps former loanee Joe Hart out of the team, is world-class and the back three are wily customers.

Let us know, on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat [or all four!] if there is any player we are missing.

*This does not include players that moved on quickly after their loan spells, such as Romelu Lukaku and Daniel Sturridge.
