WATCH: Ryan Giggs scores his first goal in the Indian Futsal League

Still going strong

Simon Lloyd

Ryan Giggs is up and running in the Indian Futsal League.

The Manchester United legend, who recently ended his 29-year association with the club, is one of several star names taking part in the first season of Premier Futsal – which also includes the likes of Hernan Crespo and Giggs’ former United teammate, Paul Scholes.

Having already pulled off a stunning nutmeg, Giggs – captain of the Mumbai side – also found the back of the net in the game against Chennai.

The goal – along with Giggs being awkwardly double high-fived during an interview can be seen in the video below.

Not bad going for a 42-year-old, eh? Perhaps he called time on his playing days a little prematurely?

Mumbai went on to win the game 4-3 to seal their first win of the league.

The major talking point of the tournament so far as been the contribution of former Barcelona star, Ronaldinho.

Representing Goa, the 36-year-old scored an impressive five goal haul in his side’s match with Begaluru, only to announce that he was quitting the tournament after the match.

The Brazilian is due back in his home nation to act as a brand ambassador for the Rio de Janeiro Paralympics Games and has since been replaced by former international teammate, Cafu.
