Vine: This linesman may have a secret career as a trained killer

Either that or he's doing his best Blue Steel

Neil Treacy

It’s very rare that a linesman becomes the centre of attention, without making a clanger of a decision.

Much like the lino trying out for the Olympic 100m in last month’s game between Aston Villa and West Brom, this guy is demonstrating that referee’s assistants really do have hidden talents.

Ipswich are taking on Bournmouth this evening in the Championsip, and the linesman was called into action early for an offside, but while there were no complaints about his decision-making, his commitment to the cause really is impressive.

After raising his flag into air, he slowly lowered it down to eye level, much like John Wayne would after a shootout in the Wild West. The concentration in those eyes is absolutely sensational, as he stares down the barrel of the gun/flag, with such determination.

Either that, or he’s doing his best impersonation of Derek Zoolander.
