Juan Mata was on the score sheet during Spain’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Macedonia in the Nacionalna Arena on Tuesday night.
The Manchester United midfielder initial free-kick into the box was cleared by the Macedonian defence but it somehow found its way back to the Spaniard. Mata seized the opportunity by curling it into the top corner of the goal from an acute angle to make it 1-0 after eight minutes.
Whether he meant it as a shot or a cross is another thing. His “cool as a breeze” reaction to the goal could indicate that it was a shot… or is that exactly what he wants everyone to think.
